Small Wooden Sheds are Quaint and Efficient

A Small Wooden Garden Shed in your yard is a great place to keep items that generally clutter your garage. These sheds can be built in many different styles and some get quite fancy. These little sheds can be portable or can be put on a foundation. There are many options of materials you can use to finish your small shed.

Most small wooden sheds are constructed with an all wood frame. The floor is framed with green treated lumber and 2 x 4 construction is most popular. On this frame is a plywood decking that is usually green treated also. Some small storage sheds have a rafter, frame and floor design all in one. This saves time when you are putting it together. You can frame your walls on your deck and set rafters on top. You can sheath the walls and the roof. To save money and time the walls can be sheathed with a 4 foot siding product. This will save you a step siding the shed if desired. You can side them with cedar, log, vinyl, steel and other products. The roofs can be shingled or covered with a steel roofing product. You can have sheds with large doors and windows in them to let in light. They can be fancy with steep roofs and dormers.

There are many uses for these small sheds and they can be set about any where. If you have a lot or piece of land where you camp or hang out once in a while a small shed would be great there to store a few items. If you live on a lake they make a nice storage place for beach, boating, and fishing equipment. You can put chairs, toys, life jackets, fishing poles and tackle in the shed where it can be kept close to where you will use it again. In the yard they make wonderful lawn and garden storage sheds. These can be used for lawn mowers, tillers, rakes, shovels, hoes, hoses, and a long list of other items.

If you build a shed yourself or buy one that is prebuilt to your specifications a storage shed can take the clutter out of your garage. You can also purchase a shed kit that you assemble. You can put your car back where it belongs and keep other items in the small shed. A small shed has a purpose and can look good too.
