Sheds come in many shapes and sizes to fit an individual purpose. Large wooden sheds can be very handy to store things out of the weather. If you have enough room a large shed might be what you want. Large sheds can be built many different ways. Some are portable and some are built on a foundation that makes them permanent.

Wooden sheds can be built in place or can be built and moved in. To construct a large portable shed you need a flat area that is clear of debris. A floor framing system is built generally out of treated 2 x 4 material. If the portable shed is real large it might require 2×6 or 2×8 construction. Most always they are sheathed with a green treated plywood. After the floor is on the walls are framed up. 2 x 4 framing is generally always used in shed construction. After the walls are framed rafters are set across the top. The walls and roof get sheathed with a plywood or oriented strand board product. Exterior walls are sided and fancy models have soffiting. They can have many styles of siding including cedar, log, vinyl, metal, and others. The soffit can be wood, vinyl, or metal. Roofing materials on storage sheds are generally shingled with a few having metal roofs. In large storage sheds you can have roll up garage doors or large swinging hinged doors. There is also a selection of windows that can be installed in them.

These sheds vary in size and if you are looking for a shed that holds a car and is on the smaller size then you could easily purchase a 12 by 31 foot storage shed with a roll up garage door or you could look at a 16 foot by 31 to add the extra space you might need. A man door can be added to the shed to give better access to the inside.

Sheds can be very attractive, they can be painted to look like the house they are near.They can even mimic a New England style structure.

Large wooden garden sheds can be used for many things. They can be used to store many items you cannot live without but never use. They can act like an extra garage or a tool shop. They are great places for lawn mowers and roto tillers. If you are into recreational vehicles like 4 wheelers or snowmobiles a large storage shed is a place to park them when not in use. You can store all your boating and fishing equipment in them for safe keeping. In large wooden sheds you can repair the lawn mower or do a little wood working.  A large storage shed can be that place you get away from every day life, a sort of workshop away from home.
